Today, Saturday, Major General Essam Saad, Governor of Assiut, witnessed the funeral prayer ceremony for Anba Kyrillos William, the honorary bishop of the Coptic Catholic Diocese of Assiut, who died on Thursday, in the presence of Archbishop Monsignor Nicholas Henry, Ambassador of the Vatican State to Egypt, and the representative of His Holiness the Pope and His Beatitude Anba Ibrahim Isaac, Patriarch of Alexandria for the Coptic Catholics. And His Grace Bishop Daniel Lotfi, Archbishop of the Coptic Catholic Diocese of Assiut and the Archbishops, members of the Holy Patriarchal Synod of the Coptic Catholic Church in Egypt, at the Cathedral of the “Mother of Divine Love” for Coptic Catholics in Assiut.

The funeral prayer ceremony was also witnessed by Anba Yoannis, Bishop of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Assiut, Representative Alaa Suleiman, Member of Parliament, Representative Hind Joseph, Member of the Senate, Sheikh Sayed Abdel Aziz, Secretary General of the Egyptian Family House in Assiut, and Dr. Marwa Kadwani, Rapporteur of the National Council for Women in Assiut and Ihab Abdel Hamid, Director Project Development Authority in Assiut, and Sheikh Samuel Baqi Sadaqa, member of the General Evangelical Council of the Evangelical Denomination, in Egypt and Vice President of the Evangelical Synod of the Nile, and a number of pastors of diocesan churches, the Synod of Priests and the Synod of Monastic and Servant Fathers, the family of the deceased, the people of the church, and many executive and religious leaders in the governorate.

Patriarch Anba Ibrahim Ishaq, with the participation of the Apostolic Nuncio to Egypt, Archbishop Nicholas Henry, presided over the funeral prayer for the Triangle of Mercy, His Eminence Bishop Kyrollos William, the Honorary Bishop of the Coptic Catholic Diocese of Assiut, with the participation of the bishops, members of the Holy Patriarchal Synod of the Coptic Catholic Church in Egypt, thanking the Governor of Assiut and all The executive, religious and popular leaders for their participation in the funeral prayer and offering condolences to His Grace Bishop Kyrillos William.

The governor of Assiut offered condolences to the family of the late deceased, to Abba Ibrahim Isaac, Abba Daniel Lotfy, all the bishops of the Catholic Church in Assiut, and to all the people of the church, stressing that the late deceased was loving to all and had his patriotic role in spreading the spirit of love, tolerance and non-discrimination as a model of sincere patriotism, and a symbol of the homeland. The faithful played an important role in activating the role of the Catholic Church in Assiut in community participation, and he was kind-hearted and had his wise and patriotic stances in which he sided with the homeland, pointing out that we are all partners in one homeland that brings us together the message of heaven and the sacred teachings that call for faith, peace, charity and love for each other we share Joys and sorrows together as one fabric, praying to the Almighty God to inspire his family with beautiful patience and to preserve Egypt as a people, army and leadership.

The Coptic Catholic Church in Egypt had announced on Thursday the death of His Eminence Bishop Kyrollos William, the Honorary Archbishop of the Coptic Catholic Diocese of Assiut, and the farewell ceremony, the Divine Liturgy prayer, and the funeral were held at the Mother of Divine Love Cathedral in Assiut.
