On this day, corresponding to the thirteenth of May, 1990, one of the legends of the recitation of the Noble Qur’an in Egypt and the Arab world, the reciter Sheikh Abdul Hamid al-Basousi, passed away.

The late was born on the third of February, 1915, and his place of birth was the village of Basous, to which he was attributed, and it is one of the villages belonging to the Qanater Charity Center and City, in the Qalyubia Governorate.

Sheikh Al-Basousi, may God have mercy on him, was distinguished by the sweetness of the voice in the recitation, and he was fluent in reading the Qur’an with the readings received from the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he had little media fame.

And it was known about our late sheikh that he was an ascetic in fame and money, and he counts the reward and reward with God.

And since Egypt was endowed by God with many good voices, and parity in the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, and that is God’s bounty over whoever He wills, therefore Sheikh Abdel Hamid El Basousi is considered one of the reciters of the state of recitation in the guarded Egypt.

Many readers appeared in Egypt during that period in which Sheikh Abd al-Hamid al-Basusi lived, and among them were Sheikh Muhammad Rifaat, Sheikh Mahmoud al-Hosari, Sheikh Abd al-Basit Abd al-Samad, Sheikh Muhammad Siddiq al-Minshawi, Sheikh Mahmoud Ali al-Banna, and others.

Sheikh Al-Basousi joined the Egyptian radio in the early sixties, specifically in 1965, and he has many rare Quranic recordings that won the admiration and approval of many listeners.

And Sheikh Al-Basousi lived 75 years in Egypt, leaving a good legacy of Quranic recitations, audio and video, which are available online, and since the people of the Qur’an are God’s people and His people, they have the right to mention them.

And by the Qur’an, the ranks of its reciter will be raised in Paradise, so that his rank in Paradise will be according to his recitation of the Qur’an and his action with it.

Many texts were mentioned in the Prophet’s Sunnah that indicate the virtue of the Qur’an and the honor of its bearer, including the indication of the Prophet – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him – that the bearer of the Qur’an and whoever reads it is envied, and envy here means praiseworthy bliss, when he said: “There is no envy except in two: A man to whom God has given the Qur’an, and he recites it during the night and during the day).

And if God promised whoever recites the Qur’an, then he will praise it and recite it by gathering with the traveling angels. The honorable, and we remember in this regard what was stated in the hadith of the Messenger of God – may God’s prayers and peace be upon him -: “The one who is skilled in the Qur’an is with the honorable and righteous pilgrims. He has rewards), and we also remember The Messenger of God said: The best of you is the one who learns the Qur’an and teaches it.

And the people of knowledge advise that it is desirable for a Muslim to preserve a hizb that he recites at night. and the noon prayer, it was written for him as if he had read it at night.”
