195 billion dirhams, the value of checks circulated in the UAE within two months

Abu Dhabi – Mubasher: The value of clearing checks traded using their copies at the UAE Central Bank increased by 6.5 percent, to 194.7 billion dirhams, during January and February 2023, compared to 182.7 billion dirhams in the same period in 2022.

The number of checks increased during the first two months of 2023 by about 1.3 percent to 3.58 million checks, compared to 3.53 million checks in the corresponding period of 2022, according to the UAE Central Bank statistics.

The value of checks in the first two months of 2023 accounted for about 96.7 percent of the same period from pre-pandemic levels, which at that time amounted to 201.4 billion dirhams.

The value of transfers carried out in the banking sector via the Emirates Remittances System increased by 41 percent, to reach 2.43 trillion dirhams during January and February 2023, compared to 1.73 trillion dirhams during the same period in 2022.

The value of bank transfers in January and February increased by about 1.56 trillion dirhams, a growth rate of 47 percent compared to the same period in 2022, while the value of individual transfers amounted to about 867.3 billion dirhams.
