Qatar’s trade surplus with Japan amounted to $559.4 million in April

Mubasher – Iman Ghali: Official data revealed that the value of the trade balance surplus in favor of the State of Qatar with Japan decreased in April 2023 by 49.4% annually.

According to the monthly report issued by the Japanese Ministry of Finance today, Thursday, the value of the trade surplus in favor of Qatar last month amounted to 76.69 billion yen ($559.44 million), compared to 151.55 billion yen ($1.11 billion) in April of 2022..

And put pressure on the annual performance of the surplus, the jump in the value of Qatar’s imports from Japan last April by 60% at 18.48 billion yen ($134.81 million), compared to 11.55 billion yen ($84.26 million) in the same month of the previous year.

The report showed that the value of Qatari exports to Japan recorded in the previous month amounted to 95.17 billion yen ($694.25 million), down 41.6% from its level in April 2022 of 163.11 billion yen ($1.19 billion).

At the level of the Middle East, the value of the surplus in favor of Japan in the previous April amounted to 740.13 billion yen ($ 5.39 billion), compared to 1.07 trillion yen ($ 7.81 billion) in the same month of 2022, recording a decline of 30.9%.

The monthly report revealed that Japan’s trade balance deficit decreased last month by 49.4% to 432.41 billion yen (3.15 billion), compared to 854.93 billion yen ($6.24 billion) in April 2022..
