Dr. Sharifa Sherif, Executive Director of the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development, the training arm of the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, announced that the “Leadership for Government Excellence” training program, which is being implemented by the Institute in partnership with the American University in Cairo and Kings College in London, won the Silver Award for Excellence in Practice 2023 in the category “ Talent Development”, from EFMD International.
Dr. Sharifa Sherif stressed that investing in the human element is one of the most important priorities of the Egyptian state because it is the basis of construction and development, explaining that the development of human resources has become a cornerstone for achieving comprehensive future development, especially since the human element has been able to prove that it is the main and effective element in every development plan in any country. Training and qualifying him is a top priority, adding that there is great interest in developing the skills of workers in the country’s administrative apparatus, in order to benefit from them in many important fields, and this is done through training, courses and grants.
Educational and training institutions
Sherif pointed to the Institute’s keenness to establish partnerships with the oldest educational and training institutions at the regional and international levels to provide the best training services, capacity building, education, research and consulting, especially in the areas of governance and sustainable development.
Leadership for government excellence
She explained that the “Leadership for Government Excellence” training program was implemented within the framework of the tripartite partnership that was signed in 2019 between the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development and two of the most prestigious universities; The American University in Cairo, and Kings College in London, and aims to prepare future leaders and prepare for the transition to the new administrative capital with a new idea in line with the digital transformation system.
She added that the program includes training over a period of 3 months, the first two months at the American University in Cairo, followed by one month at Kings College in London, where the participants, on a personal level, increase self-awareness of their leadership capabilities, master change management and government transformation, and improve communication skills, as for the organizational level. Through the program, projects that can be implemented on the ground are developed and created.
