In an incident recorded for the second time this year, a group of thieves tried to break into the “Louis Vuitton” store in France with a car, with the aim of stealing handbags and other luxury goods, according to the police.
The store, located in the center of the French city of Lille, was previously targeted in January, after a gang stole most of the goods it was displaying.
As for Wednesday’s incident, it occurred at dawn when the thieves crossed the barriers placed on the sidewalk in front of the luxurious building made in the architectural “R Deco” style, to prevent a repeat of what happened in January.
A police source told Agence France-Presse that the car “hit the front,” without giving any details about the losses incurred by the company owned by billionaire Bernard Arnault.
The mayor of Lille, Martine Aubry, told AFP that the city authorities will erect new barriers in front of the building to protect it, while the store management is looking into installing a barrier inside the building.
